About the institute
Landscape Research Institute (Výzkumný ústav pro krajinu, v. v. i.) is a research institution dedicated to exploring a wide range of natural science disciplines. At our sites in Průhonice and Brno, we strive for quality research of landscape and its ecosystems, the relationships between plants, animals, and human activities. We also create practical guides, technologies, and maps for the management of Czech nature. We also participate in international projects and cooperate with many local institutes and administrative units.
We are proud of the Institute’s almost century-long tradition, but above all, we want to provide quality research outputs and to improve on our success in the future among Czech and European partners with respect to our currently very relevant areas of interest. One example is our current position as the main coordinator of the multi-year DivLand project, which is dedicated to unifying data on Czech nature in order to better prepare the country to deal with climate change.
